POSITION: EarlyON ECE
GENERAL: Reporting to the Early Years Program Coordinator, the Early Childhood Educator is responsible for planning and developing age appropriate and wholistic early learning programs for parents, caregivers and their children who attend the EarlyON Child and Family Centres.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develops, plans and facilitates inquiry-based early learning programs for children birth to age 6, that is reflective in nature and builds on the strengths and abilities of each child and family
- Creates engaging environments and experiences to foster children’s learning and development.
- Supports parents and caregivers in their role by engaging families in meaningful ways, building on and maintaining these relationships.
- Ensures the safety and welfare of all participants and visitors in the program.
- Adheres to all policies, procedures and best practices within the organization and with the Service System Manager.
- Follows the duties and responsibilities of the job description.
- Participates in continuous professional learning to integrate knowledge and test theories from research and their own experiences to deepen their understanding of children and families.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Early Childhood Education diploma and a member in good standing in the College of Early Childhood Educators
- Experience working with children and families preferred
- A good understanding of support services available to children and families within the area
- Knowledge and understanding of child development
- Certified in Standard First Aid with Child & Infant CPR – Level C
- An acceptable Vulnerable Sector Check
- Valid Ontario Driver’s License with appropriate liability insurance
HOURS OF WORK:
- Available to work the hours of operation of the EarlyON Child and Family Centres
- Approximately 30 hours per week (evening and Saturday hours required)
